Palestine: How long will it last?

Post by Leonel JB » Mon May 24, 2004 5:48 am

People are being silent while there is an extermination of women, children and innocent people. There is a big "HOLOCAUST" in Palestine, today... We are talking against injustice all over the world, but, we are desensitized by the missiles, rockets and bombs from the Apaches (US made helicopters).

How courageous can one be? When their enemies only have rocks and AK47. While they have sophisticated weaponries. This whole story stinks. The former oppressed are becoming the "OPPRESSORS". The world is watching helplessly, like they did before in the 1940's during the holocaust of the JEWS.

Citizens everywhere are asking the Israeli government to stop these killings, slaughterings. People from Israel, USA, France etc. are rallying against the Israeli bombing of Palestine.

I do not think that anyone should perish in this conflict, either in Palestine or Israel. The occupation should stop. For the sake of Israel and Palestine. A nation can not stayed oppressed for a long period of time. How long will this conflict last. The United Nation is powerless. The USA is not fair at all in this conflict. I think the world needs to act fast, before any change of situation.

Leonel, the majority of the world's people just do not know what they can do to stop the Nazis of the 21st century. There is only ONE military superpower and it is clearly on the side of injustice. The United States and Israel are engaged in the worst crimes against humanity at this time, and a great many people stay silent to protect their jobs and livelihood (while they condemn similar passivity from the Church and society at large when Hitler was at his worst). Today, we also condemn strenuously the complicity of Europeans with the Genocide of the Native American population and the Slavery of African people, which were the greatest crimes against humanity, perpetrated on their behalf during the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. There was no World War to stop Slavery, only a great Abolitionist movement and the symbolic Haitian Revolution. Then there was Fascism, Hitlerism (the Jewish Holocaust), Stalinism... In every heart and mind in America, World War II is celebrated as the historically correct response to put an end to the great human folly of the 20th century. Now, clearly, in the latter part of the 20th and so far in the 21st, the principal victims of Hitler have morphed into the oppressors of the Palestinians, and have been sponsored the whole nine yards by the greatest military power the world has ever seen, the United States of America. While much has been said of Saddam Hussein's vaporized Weapons of Mass Destruction, Israel's WMD's and longstanding nuclear capabilities remain unquestioned - since they are funded for the most part by the American Taxpayer. Hitler was in the business of creating orphans, widows, and homeless people amid "THEM" (Jews). Today George W. Bush and Ariel Sharon have assumed the task of creating orphans, widows, and homeless people amid "THEM" (who are not with "US"). While there is a growing Peace Movement that shall ultimately stop them dead in their tracks, the world is still reeling from this so-called war on terrorism, from the shock and awe of American and Israeli military power, from the fears they have instilled in every one of us to keep quiet while the worst outrages are being perpetrated daily "on our behalf".

While we may take comfort in knowing that History will not be kind to George W. Bush and Ariel Sharon, we fail to understand that our civic acquiescence and passivity has been their greatest source of strength. We may not have (and we indeed reject) military weapons to oppose them (as this only reinforces the deadly cycle of violence), but we have our voices, our votes, our values, our refusal to live in silent fear, our example to others. Ultimately, the choice is ours.
