Haitian Punch

Serves 8

3 cups sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
3 star anise
1 tsp. grated lemon zest
4 cups water
1 1/2 dark rhum, preferably Rhum Barbancourt
Juice of 3 lemons
1 cup guava or other fruit juice

Boil sugar, cinnamon, star anise, lemon zest in water for 15 minutes

Add rhum, lemon juice and fruit juice. Strain and refrigerate. Serve chilled.
